Description

This is a vivid one! A lot of kunzite is pale, but this one has  great color!

Kunzite was discovered in San Diego in 1902, and identified as a new color of spodumene by Tiffany & Co.’s mineralogist, George Frederick Kunz. It’s a relatively newcomer to the gem scene in the history of the world. Kunzite is mainly used in high end jewelry. The stones are often pretty large, and used as a centerpiece. Most of it is mined in Brazil, Afghanistan, or Madagascar, though it can be found in other localities. It’s color ranges from pale pink to deep purplish.
